How to Run the Attention Preset Drill
Choose Attention in the preset drills to play its fixed pattern: 12000 Hz for 0.3 seconds, a 1.5-second gap, then 1.2 seconds of sound. Start with low system volume and keep the speaker away from ears. This guide covers the app controls; the preset name does not promise a particular response from your dog.
Read the pattern before starting
The first sound is brief. The second lasts longer. Between them, the app leaves a silent interval of 1.5 seconds. That pause belongs to the preset, so silence during the gap does not by itself mean playback failed. The complete sequence takes three seconds when allowed to finish. Attention uses a fixed pattern. It is not a place to enter your own durations, add extra repetitions, or store a custom cue. Check that you selected Attention before using one of your daily runs.
- First sound: 12000 Hz for 0.3 seconds.
- Middle interval: 1.5 seconds without the preset tone.
- Final sound: 12000 Hz for 1.2 seconds.
Set a modest playback level
Lower the device's system volume before starting. The app also has software gain, which defaults to 10% and has a maximum of 25%. These are separate controls. A low software percentage does not describe the sound pressure at a particular distance. Keep the device away from human and animal ears. Stop if anyone appears uncomfortable. Dogs vary, and an absent visible reaction is not a reason to raise the volume or make a claim about hearing.
- Check system volume even if the app gain still shows its default.
- Leave space between the speaker and nearby ears.
- Treat comfort as a reason to stop immediately.
Understand frequency and speaker limits
The whistle’s digital range starts at 440 Hz. Its upper limit is the browser’s audio sample rate multiplied by 0.45, rounded down to a whole number. Frequency presets above that limit use the highest available setting. This calculation limits sound generation inside the browser; it does not measure the speaker. Choose Attention from the preset drills to start its fixed sound pattern. The displayed number describes the app’s setting. Your speaker may not reproduce that frequency. Do not treat this drill as a hearing test.
- Read the current setting instead of assuming a preset label proves output.
- Keep speaker capability separate from the browser's digital limit.
Stop playback and check the daily counter
Escape stops sound when you are not typing in a text field. The app also stops on tab hiding, an audio interruption, or a devicechange signal. Browser support for that signal is incomplete, so every audio route change may not be detected. Stop playback yourself before changing speakers or headphones. The three-run allowance covers Attention, Recall, and Settle together. Midnight UTC may fall at a different local hour. This quota is an app limit, not advice about how often to use sound.
- Check remaining runs before starting another preset.
- Use the visible stop control if keyboard focus is uncertain.
- Do not assume switching audio hardware always triggers an automatic stop.
- Open the preset drills and select Attention. Review the two sound lengths and the silent gap before starting.
- Reduce system volume, check software gain, and place the speaker away from ears.
- Start the drill once. Allow the three-second pattern to finish, or stop sooner if there is discomfort.
- After playback, check the shared daily counter before choosing any further drill.
Can I change the Attention gap?
No. This preset uses a fixed 1.5-second gap. The app does not offer custom drill timing or saved custom cues.
Does the reaction burst use this same pattern?
No. The reaction feature uses a four-second burst, followed by reacted or noReaction. It stores the last three dated outcomes locally and provides a clear action.
Can I use Attention without a connection?
The Attention preset's name does not promise a specific reaction from your dog.. Keep the speaker away from ears while running the Attention preset drill.. Complete that first cache while connected before relying on offline access.
