Classic versus Soft Clicker: Choosing and Comparing App Sounds

Classic and Soft are two clicker options on onlinedogwhistle.com. Choose either option to compare its sound at a low system volume. Their names do not establish a measured loudness difference on your device. Use the four-second reaction check if you want to record a simple observation, then select reacted or noReaction.

Choose a clicker without assuming its volume

Start with your phone or computer at a low system volume. Keep its speaker away from your ears and your dog's ears. Select Classic and listen briefly. Stop if the sound causes discomfort. Select Soft only when you are ready to compare the other option. A name is a useful label, but it is not a sound-level measurement. Speakers, system volume, and listening position affect what reaches you. You do not need to raise the volume to make the two choices seem more different.

  • Keep the same speaker and listening position during a comparison.
  • Change one setting at a time so the comparison stays clear.
  • Treat the two labels as sound choices, without assuming a measured level.

Keep clickers separate from whistle controls

The clickers sit alongside an online sine-tone whistle as separate sound choices. The whistle has a visible frequency setting, presets, and steady, pulse, or warble modes. Those controls apply to the whistle. Quick yap is another available attention sound and plays a bundled audio clip. It is not a recording submitted by another visitor. When comparing Classic with Soft, try those two options first. Adding the whistle or Quick yap changes the comparison and can make it harder to remember which sound you just heard.

  • Read the selected sound label before starting playback.
  • Compare Quick yap separately if you want to hear that marker.
  • Avoid treating a whistle frequency as a clicker setting.

Use the reaction check for one clear observation

The app offers a four-second reaction burst followed by a choice between reacted and noReaction. Use this flow when you want a dated result from a short check. Watch what happens during that check, then choose the label that matches your observation. Neither label explains why a dog moved, looked, or stayed still. Nearby activity can also affect what you see. Dogs vary, and a single result does not prove a sound is useful for training. The feature records a simple response choice, without establishing a training result.

  • Choose the sound before starting the four-second check.
  • Let the short check finish before selecting an outcome.
  • Use the result as an observation about that particular check.

Read and clear the local result history

Only the last three dated outcomes are kept locally. Review their dates before deciding which result belongs to which recent check. This limited history is not a journal, and the app does not offer custom notes or checklists. Use the clear action when you want to remove the saved outcomes. No account is required, and the app does not upload these results. It also has no microphone input, ads, or telemetry. The site host can still receive ordinary request metadata when your browser loads the site.

  • Expect a short list containing up to three recent outcomes.
  • Use clear to remove that local list.
  • Do not rely on the list as a permanent record.
  1. Lower system volume, place the speaker away from ears, and select Classic for a brief listen.
  2. Select Soft while keeping the device, position, and system volume unchanged.
  3. If you want to record an observation, start the four-second reaction check and choose reacted or noReaction afterward.
  4. Review the dated local outcomes, then use clear whenever you want to remove them.
Does Soft mean a fixed quieter level on every device?

The product contract gives no measured difference between the clickers. Your speaker and system volume affect playback, so begin low with either choice.

Does noReaction mean the clicker failed?

It records your selected observation from that check. It does not establish a cause, a hearing result, or a training result.

Can I save a long history of clicker checks?

The app stores the last three dated outcomes locally. It has no journal or account history, and the clear action removes the saved list.
