How to Play the Settle Preset Drill

Select Settle in the drill controls to play a 4000 Hz tone for two seconds. Begin at low system volume, keep the speaker away from ears, and stop if the sound causes discomfort. Settle is the name of a fixed app preset. It does not establish that a dog will become calm or show any other particular behavior.

Choose the correct sound tool

Open the preset drills and choose Settle. Its short specification is useful to check before pressing play: 4000 Hz, two seconds on. The app also contains a general sine-tone whistle, two clicker styles, and a Quick yap synthetic marker. Those controls serve different playback functions. Selecting a clicker or moving the whistle frequency does not create an edited Settle drill. The app has three fixed drills and does not provide macros, custom cues, or a timer for building another sequence.

  • Settle plays a single sound period.
  • Recall uses three repetitions with gaps.
  • Attention combines a short tone, a pause, and a longer tone.

Check both volume controls

Start with a low setting on the phone, tablet, or computer itself. Then check the app's software gain. Its default is 10%, and its ceiling is 25%. Neither number measures loudness beside an ear. Speaker design, system volume, and distance all affect what reaches a listener. Keep the device away from ears throughout playback. If a person or animal seems uncomfortable, stop. Do not repeat the tone at a higher level merely because a dog showed no obvious reaction.

  • Review device volume before the first run on that device.
  • Keep access to the stop control during the tone.
  • Avoid interpreting a software percentage as a measured sound level.

Know what the frequency display means

The visible frequency setting describes the tone requested from the app. It does not certify the sound coming from a speaker. The general whistle supports 100 Hz coarse adjustments and five frequency presets at 4, 8, 12, 16, and 18 kHz. Those presets are clamped to the browser's digital cap. Although Settle shares the 4 kHz frequency, choosing that whistle preset is a different action from starting the two-second drill. Steady, pulse, and warble are whistle modes, not extra Settle drill variations.

  • Use the drill control when you want its fixed duration.
  • Do not use the displayed frequency to assess hearing.
  • Remember that many small speakers cannot reproduce ultrasonic sound.

Handle stops, run limits, and local records

Press Escape to stop when focus is outside a typing field. Playback also stops when the tab hides, audio is interrupted, or the browser sends a devicechange signal. That signal does not cover every route change in every browser. Stop manually before moving audio to another output. The daily allowance totals three runs across all preset drills and resets at midnight UTC. Reaction records belong to a separate feature: a four-second burst followed by reacted or noReaction. Only its last three dated outcomes are saved locally.

  • Read the remaining allowance before starting Settle.
  • Use the reaction feature's clear action to remove its saved outcomes.
  • Do not expect a journal, favorites, or checklists.
  1. Find Settle among the three preset drills and confirm its 4000 Hz, two-second specification.
  2. Turn system volume down, review app gain, and put the speaker at a distance from ears.
  3. Start one run while keeping the stop control within reach. End playback early if discomfort occurs.
  4. Check the remaining daily runs after the sound ends. Consult the text lessons if you need more information about app operation.
Will Settle make my dog calm?

The app makes no such promise. Dogs differ, and the preset name does not predict a response. These steps describe operating the sound controls.

Does Settle record sound around me?

The app does not use a microphone or upload recordings. It has no accounts, ads, or telemetry. Hosting metadata still exists when the site is accessed.

Where can I read more without playing another tone?

The app includes 20 searchable, shareable text lessons. They can be available offline after a successful initial cache, although offline behavior is not guaranteed in every browser.
